I am always concerned when the Doctors' and myself decide that we need to change my daughters' medication or dosage. The whole process is ongoing because our children are always growing and changing. We have to be flexible to changes as this happens. Even if the medication works really well at first, that is not a guarantee.
According to our Pediatrician, Dr. Stacy Wagner, most children will need to have adjustments to dosage periodically. If you are dealing with multiple children suffering from ADD/ADHD/ODD, it is important not to compare them based on their siblings behaviors or medications. Each child is different, therefore, what works for one child may not be the answer for their sibling.
It is also critical that all aspects of development are being assessed regularly to ensure medication is working properly. I have teacher and parent assessments, plus I consult with our social worker and therapist as to behaviors and/or side effects noticed. This ensures that we are looking at all aspects
